Treatments

Acupuncture

A medical practice of inserting fine needles into certain points (acupoints) on the body to treat various physical and mental diseases.

Moxibustion

The burning of moxa (Artemisia vulgaris) to heat acupoints or certain areas to treat or prevent diseases.

Cupping

Suction is created to cause local congestion to improve ‘Qi’ & blood circulation in order to promote healing.

Hammering

Dermal needling or Superficial tapping of acupoints/meridians/local areas with five star needle/plum-blossom needle to maintain free flow of ‘Qi’ & blood.

Electro acupuncture

The combination of acupuncture and electric stimulation to speed up the recovery of certain diseases.

Hijama

Also known as wet cupping (Hijama). Blood is drawn by cupping method for therapeutic purposes.

TENS

Acupuncture like TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) on acupoints/local areas to relieve pain and other therapeutic purposes.

Answer: Not significant, since the needles are very thin as ‘hair sized’ and the method of insertion by an expertise make it painless. Majority of patients doesn’t feel pain, but a few may feel slight pain as much as an ‘ant bite’, which is tolerable.

Answer: No. Acupuncture is a drugless pro-nature therapy.
Answer: After inserting the needles into the body, manipulation by hand creates some sensation called Deqi (pronounced as Thechi). This sensation acts like medicine and cures disease.
Answer: Of course you should. The medicines can be tapered or stopped as per physician’s advice.
Answer: Yes, you can. But, it is mandatory to inform your acupuncturist.
Answer: It varies from person to person, depends on disease and its conditions. Generally, 10-20 sessions are required as a course of treatment. In chronic cases, more than one course is needed for the complete treatment.
